Star Wars Phantom Menace Lightsaber Review

Logan is the Star Wars fan in the Mama Owl household, and was very pleased to see this Star Wars Phantom Menace Double-Bladed Lightsaber in our second box from Toys R Us.

I do have to say, that in all honesty I was expecting this toy to actually do something… perhaps light up, or make noises maybe… but unfortunately it doesn’t do anything. Literally, what you see is exactly what you get. There are several buttons on the handle of the toy but only the two in the middle work to release the ‘blades’ that pop out from both ends. You spin the lightsaber around, and then press the button(s) to release one or both of the blades, for a reach of up to 5 feet… so I recommend making sure that your child has lots of room to spin the lightsaber around.

The lightsaber is a simple toy without bells & whistles, but it would make a good role-play toy for Star Wars fans, and it is recommended for ages 4 years and up. It’s available from Toys R Us and is priced at £19.99. Personally, I think that it would be better value for money at a lower price, as unfortunately it doesn’t offer much besides the Star Wars logo.
