Mamas and Papas Urbo Sugar Spot Pram Review

I’m Laura from Yummy Mummy Flabby Tummy and this is our second review from our second Toyologist box. Today we’re reviewing the Mamas & Papas Urbo Sugar Spot Pram which is available to buy from Toys R Us and where details of the price can be checked.

What is the Mamas & Papas Urbo Sugar Spot Pram? This is a dolls pram from the Mamas & Papas pram range. This is a gorgeous pram in pink and purple and is suitable for ages 4 and over. This pram can be a forward-facing pram or it can be changed into a rear-facing buggy. Miss C loves to push her dolls around in a buggy so she was delighted to have a new pram to play with.

What comes in the box? Inside the box you get your carry-cot, the pram frame and 2 front wheels which need to be attached. Instructions for assembly are included and these also tell you how to change the pram position. There isn’t a lot of packaging so it’s easy to get out the box and get into.

Is it easy to assemble? Let me tell you I am rubbish at assembling things. I can’t work a screwdriver unless I’m chanting “lefty-loosey, righty -tighty”, so I was a bit scared about assembling this before I brought it out the box. Also Miss C was hassling me to get it out so she could have a shot. Thankfully, this pram is super easy to assemble and no tools are required. You simply attach the 2 front wheels and click them into place, pull the frame up and then insert the carry-cot in whatever position you want it to be in. It took me less than 5 minutes to put together.

How does the pram work? It is easy to change the position of the pram, depending how your child wants to play with it. I put it in the forward-facing carry-cot position firstly but Miss C prefered the pram as a buggy. There are push-in buttons on either side of the carry-cot that make the pram tilt forward to become a buggy. If you want to have the pram in rear-facing, you just lift the carry-cot out of the frame, turn it around and secure.
The carry-cot has a hood which can be pushed down or pulled up easily and it has a lovely cosy-toes which fits right over the carry-cot to keep your dolls warm. There are straps inside the carry-cot to keep your baby secure. The carry-cot is quite big and Miss C had a few babies and stuffed animals inside at the same time.
Underneath the pram is a net material basket which allows your child to store other toys – like potties or changing bags. The wheels aren’t fixed in place so it makes it really easy to manoeuvre the pram, especially round corners. Handily, it can be folded down and stored away in a cupboard without taking up too much space.

Any drawbacks to Mamas & Papas Urbo? The handlebar isn’t adjustable which I think is essential for any pram. Miss C is a bit short for her age so she had to reach up to push the pram. The carry-cot isn’t completely secure so this means it can be bounced. I don’t know if it’s supposed to be like that to enable it to move easily but it makes it seem flimsy.

Would I recommend this to a friend? Yes I would. I love the look of the Urbo; it’s really pretty and girly. It’s an excellent size for a pram and will last Miss C ages. I had a Mamas & Papas pram for Miss C as a baby and if I could have an adult version of the Urbo then I definitely would buy it! Not that I need a pram…!

We give this a 8.5/10 – Just because of the non-adjustable handlebars.
