LEGO Friends Downtown Bakery Review

When one mentions Lego, unfortunately what normally comes to mind are blocks that create cars and trucks and are geared mainly towards boys.

However, the Lego Friends range has changed all this. This range targeting girls is all about building but building cafes and shops and designer buildings that appeal more to girls.

My daughter and I loved the Lego Friends Downtown Bakery set that we reviewed. It is great because after making the set from the easy to follow instructions, she can also play with it or add to it with other sets.

The quality is excellent as one would expect from and has grown to associate with Lego. The smaller parts mean that it provides a greater challenge to children aged between 8 – 12.

The instructions were really easy to follow and the fact that the parts for different areas of the set come packaged in different bags is even more helpful.

The colours pink and lilac obviously were a big hit with my daughter. She also loved the little details like the cakes and the pans.

She enjoys playing with the set even now as she has the two figures Mia and Danielle to create a complete scene and can even add it to her other sets.

The Downtown Bakery, when complete, is an adorable shop with a lovely awning and a shop sign. There oven opens and you can bake delicious cakes and pastries. The attention to details is indeed something that is commendable when the pieces are so tiny.

As a mother, I enjoyed spending time with her and making the set with her. It is so great to see the set evolving before your eyes and is somehow nicer than buying a readymade set. It is so much more interesting to build one owns set.

My daughter absolutely loves this set and is now looking to add other sets to it. Since it is creative and helps in imaginative play too, I have no qualms in getting her more sets like this.
