Dragon Chase Game Review

I’m Laura from Yummy Mummy Flabby Tummy and this is our seventh review from our Toyologists toy box. Today I’m reviewing a game called Dragon Chase. This game is available to buy on the Toys R Us website and details of the price can be checked here too.

What is Dragon Chase? This is a family board game suitable for ages 3 and over and for 2-4 players. The idea of the game is to move around the ice path with a coloured gem to get it to the safety of the cave. You have to watch out for the moving Dragon who tries to knock your gem off your playing piece and send you back to the start. Players have 2 gems each and the winner is the first person to get both of their gems to the cave.

What comes in the box? You get your playing pieces, your gems, a die, a moving dragon and the playing board. Instructions are included. The dragon requires 3 AA batteries to operate which aren’t included. The Dragon is easy to set up and it fits into the playing board well.

Is the game easy to play? Yes, the game is quite straightforward to play and Miss C, who is 3, was able to follow the game and join in. Dragon Chase is a good game for teaching turn-taking, colour recognition and counting skills.

Here is a short video of the kids and their Daddy playing Dragon Chase:

Any drawbacks to Dragon Chase? You have to get 2 gems around the playing board and if the Dragon knocks your gem off your playing piece, you have to move back to the start every time this happens. Depending on the luck of the die, this game could be drawn out a lot longer than it should be and this could make younger children restless and bored.

Would I recommend this game to a friend? Yes I would. The concept of the game is good and it adds another level of fun with the moving Dragon. We really enjoyed playing this game.

We give this an 8/10 – Just because of the temperamental button on the Dragon’s tail.
